Who We Are

Christopher Kitchen

Our family-run business has a long history in the grocery industry. In 1965, C.S. "Pete" Kitchen began his career when he became the General Manager of the Kroger store in Kenton, Ohio.

After a decade of gaining experience as a grocer, he opened Kitchen’s Supermarket in West Jefferson, Ohio in 1975. Pete and his wife, Sue, raised 5 sons, all of whom worked in the store, or managed various parts of the business throughout the years. He and his son Chris were innovators in the independent grocery industry, being the first in Ohio to add a full-service floral shop to his store. In 1990, Pete was named Ohio Grocer of the Year by the Ohio Grocer's Association. For over 35 years, Kitchen's Supermarket served the West Jefferson community by providing quality products with standout service.

Chris grew up working in his father's grocery store in West Jefferson, Ohio, and held every position from bagger, to meat cutter, to manager. After graduating with a degree in business from Ashland College, he opened Kitchen's Supermarket in Marysville, Ohio where he and his wife Mitzi operated the store from 1989 to 1995.  He is looking forward to working with Hardin County's agricultural producers to provide local products to our community.
